R. B. Diamond Jewellers was founded by Mr. Ramesh Maharjan over two and a half decades ago. Mr. Maharjan, a renowned business personality, contributed to the betterment of Nepal and marginalized communities, and joined the political landscape with a vision to improve the lives of communities that had been left behind. He was a hardworking, visionary business personality, but most importantly he was a gem of a person, who founded and led various organizations, along with setting up his own non-profit, Maya Foundation, to improve the lives of young people from vulnerable communities.
Mr. Maharjan believed that every successful business is anchored in creativity. Starting from a small business in New Road, within one generation he transformed RB Diamond into one of Nepal's largest sellers of diamonds. He established the first Federation of Nepal Gold Silver Gem & Jewelry Association in 2013, which was the country's first national-level organization to facilitate the trade of gold, silver, gems, and jewelry.
He served as the Chairman of the R.B. Group, Federation of Nepal Gold Silver Gem & Jewellery Associations, Nepal-Srilanka Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Nepal Mandal Television Pvt. Ltd and Jheegu Lagani Group Pvt. Ltd. and worked as a Leading member and Advisor to the Board of Trade, Commerce Ministry of Nepal, Lumbini Buddhist University and Nepal Chamber of Commerce. An advisor and leader, associated with many organizations and industry alliances, Mr. Maharjan fostered an environment of unity, cooperation and coordination of businesses in the jewelry industry, and he was revolutionary in raising the profile of Nepal, leading by example to take forward some ground breaking projects post earthquake, and in the post pandemic context.
